Known as “The Wildflower Capital of Colorado,” Crested Butte hosts a diverse array of wildflowers every summer. A wet, cold Spring combined with consistent summer rainfall make for a spectacular blooming season.  Some of the wildflowers, like the alpine sunflower, can be found in the unlikeliest of places. High above the tree line, this bright flower grows best in between sedimentary rock, specifically limestone.
